Towbars

We supply and fit four types of towbars. Fixed Flange and Swan Neck types as well as Detachable Flange and Swan Neck..

Fixed Flange

This is probably the most common type of towbar in the UK and the most cost effective. The ball is permanently attached to the front plate and is more versatile than the fixed swan neck. With its bolt on design, it can be used with accessories designed to bolt behind the ball such as a cycle carrier or bumper protector. The standard towball can also be replaced with an extended neck towball for caravans with an Al-Ko type stabiliser hitch. On some vehicles where rear parking sensors have been installed the towball may be picked up, especially if the sensors are installed low down in the bumper.

Fixed Swan Neck

A much more streamlined profile than the fixed flange with the electric socket sitting just under the bumper. Not as versatile as the fixed flange as there is no mounting plate so, for example, you can't tow whilst using a bike rack. The fixed swan neck towbar is compatible with any towball mounted bike rack. This towbar is also compatible with the Al-Ko type stabiliser hitch.

Detachable Flange

Probably the most versatile of all our towbars, however not widely available for all makes of vehicle and usually the most costly option. They come with all the advantages of the fixed flange bar with the added convenience of having a fully detachable neck. As with the standard flange, the towball can be replaced with an extended neck type for Al-Ko type stabilisers. As the detachable section incorporates a bolt on ball it can be considerably heavier then the Swan Neck detachable.

Detachable Swan Neck

This is our most popular detachable towbar featuring an easy to use quick release system which once installed locks into the housing to prevent unauthorised removal. When not in use it can be quickly and easily removed and stored in the boot. Again, this type is fully compatible with the Al-Ko type stabiliser hitch and is the recommended towbar to avoid any issues with rear parking sensors.

We always try to source a make of towbar which is the least obtrusive for each vehicle, however in some cases there may be a bumper cut required. In many cases this is not visible once the towbar is fitted and is often located underneath on the undertray. In some cases the bumper cut will be visible. Please ask if you are concerned about this.
